Speaking at a rally in Atlanta, Georgia, where her speech was preceded by a performance by rapper Megan Thee Stallion, Vice President Kamala Harris repeatedly attacked former President Trump, implying he was a “predator,” had committed “sexual abuse,” and had committed fraud.
Harris tried to draw a contrast between herself and the GOP presidential nominee, saying, “As many of you know, before I was elected vice president, and before I was elected a United States senator, I was an elected attorney general and an elected district attorney – and before that, I was a courtroom prosecutor. So in those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds: predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type.”
“And I have been dealing with people like him my entire career,” she continued. “For example, as attorney general of California, I took on one of our country’s for-profit colleges that was scamming students. Well, Donald Trump ran a for-profit college that scammed students. As a prosecutor, I specialized in child sex-abuse cases. Well, Trump was found liable for committing sexual abuse. And as an attorney general, I held the big Wall Street banks accountable for fraud. Donald Trump was just found guilty of fraud.”
The crowd responded by chanting, “Lock him up!”
Harris then tried to present herself as tough on immigration, apparently in an attempt to deflect from the harsh criticism of her as President Biden’s reputed “border czar” while illegal immigration has soared to unprecedented levels.
“In this campaign, I will proudly put my record against his any day of the week, including for example on the issue of immigration,” she boasted, then bragged as attorney general of California, “I walked underground tunnels between the United States and Mexico on that border with law enforcement officers. I went after international gangs, drug cartels, and human traffickers that came into our country illegally. I prosecuted them in case after case and I won.”
As America First Legal, which is launching inquiries into Harris’ history in California’s government between 1990 and 2017, noted: “As California Attorney General, Kamala Harris interfered with the enforcement of federal immigration laws—even defending San Francisco’s sanctuary-city ordinance and opposing California’s participation in the federal Secure Communities program (a program that enabled ICE to deport criminal aliens from local communities).”
Harris said of Trump that he was “talking a big game” about the border but he “does not walk the walk.” Yet during the Biden/Harris administration, illegal immigration has skyrocketed. The Hill opinion contributor Merrill Matthews noted in late January:
The number of illegal immigrants in the country has roughly doubled under President Biden. The United States had some 10.2 million illegal immigrants in 2020, and another 10 million have entered during Biden’s presidency. If the 20 million illegal immigrants were all in one state, it would be tied with New York for the fourth most populated state.
Ignoring the fact that during the Biden-Harris administration, inflation-induced interest rate hikes have made home-buying far more difficult, Harris claimed, “We believe in a future where every person has an opportunity to build a business, to own a home, to build intergenerational wealth… building up the middle class will be a defining goal of my presidency.”
The House Budget Committee wrote last year, “President Biden’s inflation-induced interest rate hikes have made home ownership unaffordable for too many Americans. A record low 21 percent of Americans think it is a good time to buy a home. The Biden Administration’s economic policies have led to the most rapid increase in mortgage rates since 1981.”
