Tucker Carlson denies ADL accusation that he is a white supremacist and reiterates claim that the Democratic party is 'trying to replace the current electorate with voters from the Third World'

Tucker Carlson on Monday night doubled down on his claim that Democrats were deliberately 'importing' migrants to the United States to make the electorate more likely to vote them into power, laughing off the Anti Defamation League's labeling of him as a white supremacist.

Carlson sparked anger on Thursday by discussing 'replacement theory' - the idea that the electorate was being engineered, via immigration.

'I know that the left and all the gatekeepers on Twitter become literally hysterical if you use the term 'replacement', if you suggest that the Democratic party is trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters, from the Third World.'

The ADL accused Carlson of 'open-ended endorsement of white supremacist ideology'.

The group said in a letter to Fox News Channel's CEO Suzanne Scott that Carlson's talk was not legitimate political discussion, but 'race-baiting, extreme rhetoric.' They said it harkened to the 'Jews Will Not Replace Us!' chants heart in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017.

They said it was 'time for Carlson to go.'

Yet the Fox News host was unrepentant, devoting 20 minutes of his hour-long show on Monday night to the defense of his views.

'A nation's leadership admitting they hope to replace their own citizens? It seems grotesque,' he said.

But he insisted that Democrats needed arrivals from Central and Latin America to support their policies.

'Demographic changes are the key to the Democratic Party's political ambition,' he said.

'In order to win and maintain power, Democrats plan to change the population of the country.'

Carlson spoke as large numbers of migrants continue to arrive at the southern border.

Over 171,000 migrants were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border in March, according to a Washington Post analysis of preliminary data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The figure marks the highest number of migrants taken into custody in a single month since 2006.

In January, the number taken into custody stood at 78,442.

Carlson said this was part of a Democrat plot, adding that the Democrats would not be so welcoming if the migrants were Republican voters.

'If 200,000 immigrants from Poland showed up at our southern border tomorrow, Kamala Harris would not promise them health care? Why? They tend to vote Republican, that's the difference,' he said.

'Democrats would deport those migrants immediately. No more hand-wringing about how we are a nation of immigrants.

'Hundreds of thousands of likely Republicans massing in Tijuana? That qualifies as a national crisis. At a border wall by Wednesday.'

The ADL said: 'While couching his argument in terms of what he described as the Democratic Party attempting to replace traditional voters with immigrants from third-world countries, Carlson’s rhetoric was not just a dog whistle to racists – it was a bullhorn.'

Carlson claimed that migration had turned California into a Democrat stronghold, saying it was done 'virtually overnight'.

Carlson said Democrats in California 'rigged to the game with more people, they packed the electorate.'

'As your state swelled with foreign voters, your views became irrelevant,' Carlson said.

'Your political power, the power to control your own life, disappeared with the arrival of new people who diluted your vote.'
