Finally someone puts Chris Cuomo in his place! Megyn Kelly blasts CNN host's 'fake covid basement stunt' and accuses his NY governor brother of 'killing off 6,000 seniors' in stinging Twitter spat
Megyn Kelly tore into Chris Cuomo for his 'fake covid basement stunt', slammed his hypocrisy over masks and accused his New York Governor brother Andrew of 'killing off 6,000 seniors' in care homes during the pandemic in a Twitter spat.
The former Fox News anchor hit back at the CNN host after he shared a video mocking her comments about Donald Trump supporters and the election
The fight was prompted by Kelly tweeting to Jon Favreau, the Director of Speechwriting for Barack Obama, after he called her 'utterly pathetic'.
'You have zero understanding of the mood of 70 million Americans who have been unfairly attacked relentlessly for the past four years as awful ppl just for supporting their president', she wrote.
Actor George Hahn then made a video in which he mocked Kelly's tweet and pretended to be an upset Trump supporter.
Megyn Kelly and Chris Cuomo have been clashing on Twitter after the CNN host shared a video mocking her comments on Trump and the election
The former Fox News host claimed Cuomo pretended to have Covid and blasted his brother Andrew for his handling of the pandemic in New York
The video was retweeted by Cuomo, prompting Kelly to call out her rival news host.
She said, referring to his brother Andrew, the Governor of New York and his handling of the Covid pandemic: 'OMG @ChrisCuomo I totally thought this was you doing more terrible acting like when you had COVID (while your brother was killing off 6k seniors) &, after exposing half ur neighborhood while not wearing your mask, did your fake emergence from the basement!'
She then added: 'For those confused, Chris Cuomo retweeted that little acting tweet - wanted me to see it - and thankfully I did!'
Cuomo did not reply to Kelly but responded to a fan who labeled her a 'complete embarrassment'.
Cuomo retweeted a video in which an actor mocked Kelly's tweet saying Trump supporters have been 'unfairly attacked relentlessly for the past four years'
He said: 'Leave it alone. Everyone trying to be relevant. Hostility sells.
'Focus on righteous indignation: Trump at his worst screaming fraud with no facts. Gop'ers playing at the same must be remembered and held to account.'
Cuomo said he tested positive for Covid on March 31 and broadcast his show from his home.
He later said he had a hallucination of his late father, former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, as a result of symptoms.
But he was ridiculed for 'staging' a reunion with his family on Instagram after 'several weeks locked in his basement' - even though he admitted leaving his home just nine days before.
The CNN anchor posted footage showing him walking up the stairs to greet his kids at his Hamptons mansion, three weeks after he went into 'quarantine' to recover from coronavirus.
'This is the dream. Just to be back up here doing normal things,' he said as he embraced his wife Christina, who has also since recovered from COVID-19.
But Cuomo has been accused of staging the clip after he revealed he left his home on Easter Sunday - two weeks after testing positive.
Kelly, whose new podcast The Megyn Kelly Show debuted at number one last month, told Page Six of Cuomo: 'The chief nurse assisting CNN's suicide during the Trump era [is] now lecturing on how to cover news.'
The CNN host did not respond to Kelly's claims but said she is 'trying to be relevant' by being hostile
Kelly was a news anchor on Fox News from 2004 to 2017 when she left after revealing she had been subjected to abuse by CEO Roger Ailes.
During her final years on the network, she had a number of spats with Donald Trump while covering his presidential bid.
The animosity started in the 2015 debates when she pushed him on his comments towards women, prompting a flurry of angry tweets from the future president about the host.
After Fox, she joined NBC but her show led to poor reviews and her contract was terminated in January last year.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was criticized by Kelly for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic
Her tone towards Trump and his supporters has softened recently, saying they have been demonized by the left.
She praised his performances in the election debates this year and has been critical of the Biden campaign.
Kelly recently said: 'Biden calls for "unity" and "healing" - perhaps he should take it up first with the loudest voices of his own party?'
She has been promoting her new podcast on social media, and recently slammed the 'hypocrisy' of Democrats calling for unity after calling Trump supporters the 'dregs of society'.
