Kamala Harris apologizes to the parents of Kayla Mueller for her murder on day ISIS Beatles get charged - then slams Donald Trump for calling soldiers 'suckers' and 'losers'
Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris apologized to Kayla Mueller's parents for her murder at the hands of ISIS, as they sat in the auditorium as invited guest of Harris' rival, Vice President Mike Pence.
'I know about your daughter's case and I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry,' Democrat Joe Biden's running mate said. 'What happened to her is awful. And it should never have happened. And I know Joe feels the same way. And I know President Obama feels the same way.'
Pence invited Carl and Marsha Mueller as his two debate guests as they have harshly criticized Obama and Biden's foreign policy.

Kayla Mueller was taken captive in Aleppo, Syria in August 2013 and killed by ISIS sometime in 2015. Her parents have criticized the Obama administration for waiting for more intelligence and losing her location during an operation in 2014
Vice President Mike Pence quoted Kayla Mueller's parents saying, 'if President Trump had been president, they believe Kayla could be alive today'
The report that the Muellers would be Pence's guests came on the heels of ISIS fighters Alexanda Amon Kotey (left) and El Shafee Elsheikh (right) being flown to the U.S. and indicted on crimes associated with Mayla Mueller's and journalist James Foley's deaths

In August they spoke as Republican National Convention guests.
'When Joe Biden was vice president, they hesitated for a month, and when the armed forces finally went in, it was clear she'd been moved two days earlier,' Pence said.
'Her family says with a heart that broke the heart of every American that if President Trump had been president, they believe Kayla could be alive today,' Pence continued.

A mission in July 2014 to find her was unsuccessful, with a later report from Fox News Channel saying the Obama White House knew her location in May, but waited seven weeks for more intelligence.
Earlier Wednesday, one-half of the so-called 'Beatles' ISIS fighters - Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh - were charged with a slew of crimes related to Mueller's and journalist James Foley's deaths.
Spokespeople for the Trump campaign and Pence didn't respond to DailyMail.com's request for comment on the lucky timing.
At the debate, Pence boasted about President Donald Trump's tough stance on ISIS and his decision in January to kill Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, while he was visiting Iraq.
Harris countered that the January attack resulted in relaliation that hurt American troops.
'They suffered serious brain injuries and you know what Donald Trump dismissed them as? Headaches,' she said.
The California senator then made a broader point.
'And this is about a pattern of Donald Trump's, where he has referred to our men who are serving in our military as suckers and losers,' she said. 'Donald Trump who went to Arlington Cemetery and stood above the graves of our fallen heroes and said "What's in it for them?" Because of course he only thinks about what's in it for him,' she continued.
She also brought up comments Trump made about Sen. John McCain, weeks after he decided to run for president in 2015.
'Donald Trump says he doesn't deserve to be called a hero because he was a prisoner of war,' Harris scoffed.
Harris also brought up media reports that said Russia had put bounties of American soldiers' heads in Afghanistan.
'And you know what a bounty is? Somebody puts a price on your head and they will pay if you are killed,' Harris said. 'And Donald Trump had talked at least six times to Vladimir Putin and never brought up the subject.'
'Joe Biden would never do that,' she argued. 'Joe Biden would hold Russia to account on any threats to our nation's security, to our troops that are sacrificing their lives.'
Pence then insisted that he get time to respond.
'The slanders against President Donald Trump regarding men and women of our armed forces are absurd,' the vice president said.
'My son is a captain in the United States Marine Corps, my son-in-law is deployed in the United States Navy, I can assure all of you the sons and daughters of our military, President Donald Trump not only respects but reveres all of those serving in our armed forces and any suggestion otherwise is ridiculous,' he added.
