On Wednesday night, the national press secretary for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, Brian Fallon, decided he had found a simple solution to America’s problems, tweeting, “Defund the police.”
Senator Ted Cruz, who apparently doesn’t bear the same hostility to policemen and policewomen that Fallon does, fired back on Twitter with a film reference: “Hillary’s press secretary makes the 2020 Dem agenda clear: ‘Defund the police.’ Take your guns. Cheer on the rioters & looters who burn your city. It’s like Mad Max at Thunderdome, brought home to America.”

Senator Tom Cotton wrote bitingly, “Wealthy liberals like Hillary Clinton’s former press assistant have no problem calling to defund the police—they can live in gated communities and hire security guards.”

Senator Josh Hawley echoed, “This is Hillary Clinton’s former spokesperson. Is this now the official position of the Democrat Party?”

In 2018, Fallon tweeted that he had a plan to deal with academics who broke with the expected leftist line espoused by the Democratic Party: put them on a list:
Progressives should keep a list of names of the sellouts at Yale and elsewhere who are right now trying to smooth a path for the overturning of Roe and gutting of the New Deal. They should be unwelcome in future Democratic administrations.

Fallon has an extensive Democratic Party resume, having worked on the Kerry-Edwards campaign as a press aide in 2004, on the Robert Menendez 2006 senatorial campaign in a similar position, then later becoming chief spokesman for New York Senator Chuck Schumer. In 2011 he became the spokesman for the Senate Democratic Policy and Communications Center. In 2013 he moved to the Justice Department as the department’s director of public affairs under Attorney General Eric Holder.
In December 2015, after Hillary Clinton refused to apologize for falsely claiming that videos of Donald Trump’s statements regarding Islamic terrorism were being used by ISIS to recruit Muslims, Fallon stated, “Hell no. Hillary Clinton will not be apologizing to Donald Trump for correctly pointing out how his hateful rhetoric only helps ISIS recruit more terrorists. The person that needs to apologize in this matter is Donald Trump, for his hateful bigoted rhetoric toward Muslim Americans.”
Just how far-left Fallon stands was amply demonstrated in July 2019, when Fallon lavished praise on far-left Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, writing that they had “done more to define the vision and moral center of today’s Democratic party than all of the message bills pushed by the party leadership combined.”

Dave Abrams, Republican State Leadership Committee deputy executive director, responded to calls from Democrats to defund the police, asserting, “Every single Democrat in the country must answer to whether he or she agrees with this radical idea to rid communities of the women and men in blue who put their lives on the line to keep Americans safe. Silence is part of the problem, isn’t it? Time for Democrats to speak up,” as The Washington Times reported.
